Holiday Postcard -Summer 2007

Week1 - French Alps:Summer holidays - yipeee! Our first week was with the Biggs family (Paul's Sister) in the French Alps. We shared a chalet in a quiet location (well - it was before we arrived with our combined 9 kids!). We managed to get the teenagers to come on walks and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We were very relaxed after the week, just needed to catch up on sleep...both families went there seperate ways for the next weeks holiday.

Week2 - Tuscany-Italy:We headed south through the Mont-Blanc tunnel and stayed in the hills overlooking Florence. The weather was in the high 30's and very humid. Fortunately we could cool off in the pool in the mornings and afternoons. Florence was very beautiful and cultura[. We visited the town in short trips as it was too hot. We visited Pisa and found a welcome beach that was very nice and refreshing. At the end of this week we visited Venice for the day - not as hot as Florence, only 34 deg! |

Week3 - Dolomites-Italy:Our third week is on the Alpi di Suisi, a plateau at 2000m and only cars of guests can access the mountain (everyone else takes the cable car). We have a beautiful panorama in all directions, just today the cloud is low so visability keeps changing. There are many easy accessible walks so we haven't used the car yet this week since Sunday. The scale of the mountains is amazing. Can't believe we have to come home this weekend. We look forward to catching up with you sometime soon. |
