Prelude - Family Reunion:
Our summer holidays started out with a fun week in Derbyshire - Paul's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008 and organisaed a family gathering. Below is a selection of photos from the fun packed activities of the week. |

Week 1 - La Reunion Island:We flew to Mauritius and then on to La Reunion. We stayed near St Pierre in the south and after a lot of travel instead of resting....the next day it was clear early morning so we headed off to walk up the volcano - an all day walk in hot sunshine. The volcano had erupted in 2007 and two days after our walk was closed due to seismic activity. It was great to be able to visit people that Paul taught on his mission in 1987. |

Week 2 - Mauritius:We headed back to Mauritius staying in Flic-en-Flac. We spent our days visiting the beautiful island, relaxing by the pool and watching the sunset on the beach. The children enjoyed La Vanille wildlife park where they breed crocodiles, monkeys and giant tortoises. We ate Mauritian food - 'dhal Puri' (pancakes) and 'mines' (chinese noodles) and everyone loved it. And we got the chance to meet people Paul had met back in 1987. |

Week 3 - Mauritius:We ditched the car and moved to Trou-aux-Biches beach for a relaxing last week. We enjoyed the beach every day, snorkelling, swimming and generally chillin'. We saw dolphins in the bay, watched the sunset every night and on the last day spent our last rupees on ringoes rides. It was quite a wrench to leave, as we had actually succeeded in relaxing!! What a very special place - the scenery - the people and the weather. Perfect holiday - just a shame it's 12 hours flight away.... |
