Holiday Postcard - Summer 2010

Summer 2010

Finally getting around to writing up a brief report of our travels this summer.......We started in Morzine (French Alps) where we shared a chalet with the Biggs family. The cousins played/hung out together for the whole week giving the 'completely' grown ups a bit of time out.  The weather was wet for the first couple of days.  On the Sunday evening we all got caught in a serious down-pouring whilst on a walk to check out the local area - the Dads kindly went back to get the cars. The rest of the week saw varied weather but not enough to stop us walking, BBQing, sunbathing, climbing and parascending.  One evening the Bayart family came over and we all danced - even the reluctant ones - on the Wii dancing game.   At the end of the week, the Millers arrived and all 17 of us squeezed in for a couple of nights.  We especially enjoyed our jacuzzi each evening watching the stars and all the fun with family.

On the Monday of week two we headed over to Zermatt in Switzerland. We left the car in Tasch because only electric cars are allowed in Zermatt. So we had to get a bus up the mountain to our next location- a very special location in the shadow of the Matterhorn with beautiful mountain walks and scenery.  We walked to a number of different places, up to Eidleweiss, took the train to Gornergratt the highest railway in Europe and walked all the way down.  It was lovely and we were so lucky to have 3 full days of sunshine while we were there (cloudy the day of arrival and cloudy on the day of departure).   On the way home we felt there was something wrong with the car's gears but we kept going...We made it until Reims and then in traffic the car just died on the motorway where the automatic gearbox gave in completely!  We were fortunate to be 5 mins tow from a dealer and they were open till late on the Friday evening.....the car is still there three weeks later!!  But we all got back without any trouble.....and looking back on it was quite funny.

We all had a great relaxing time and are now fully back into school, work, etc...  More photos are in the photo pages on our site as well as the latest pictures of Jessie our new Labrador puppy!!!

Lots of love  Jane & Paul, Hannah, Matthew, Sophie, Edward xxx
