The Elvidge Family

We are on our way back from a week in the North-West Highlands and Sutherland.  To start with we stayed in a cottage overlooking the sea just outside of Plockton (near Skye-see panorama above and below).  We enjoyed walks on the Isle of Skye and wandering (on foot and by train) along the coast. The weather was changeable but that suited Hannah & Matthew who had lots of revision/studying to do (groan!!)

Edward had to use his strength to hold the owl (right) which just after the photo did a big flap of its wings and nearly took him off to his nest!!  
We next headed off to Tongue in Sutherland on the northy coast of Scotland.  5 hours drive up the west coast past Ullapool and Durness almost all on a single track lane with breath taking scenery.
The farmers fields were full of new lambs bouncing around.

We had clear blue skies whilst we were in Sutherland (very rare) and we were able to explore the big sandy bays and walk up Ben Hope.  The  beaches were great for exploring and playing football, but the sea was very cold, the locals don't even go swimming in the summer.

We are now headed back home (would take over 11 hours - without stops, roadworks & traffic).  Hannah had her 18th birthday - just in time to vote!! We are off to Alton Towers tomorrow to celebrate her birthday, then we head home.
